Cost of Attendance
JSU’s tuition and fees may vary due to a number of factors. As a flat rate, these are the tuition costs:
Full time cost: $4605 per semester
Part time cost: $385 per credit hour

Admission Requirements
In order to be admitted to Jackson State University, prospective students must fall into 1 of 4 categories.
All students completing the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) with a minimum of a 3.20 high school GPA on the CPC.
All students completing the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) with (a) a minimum of a 2.50 high school GPA on the CPC or a class rank in the top 50%, and (b) a score of 16 or higher on the ACT (or the SAT equivalent).
All students completing the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) with (a) a minimum of a 2.00 high school GPA on the CPC, and (b) a score of 18 or higher on the ACT (or SAT equivalent).
All students satisfying the NCAA Division I standards for student-athletes who are “full-qualifiers or “academic redshirts”.

Merit Based Scholarships
Jackson State offers Merit Based Scholarships for students upon admission to the University. In addition, students may receive departmental scholarships as well
Grants

Federal Work Study
Federal Work Study (FWS) is financial assistance which provides part-time employment opportunities to eligible students to help meet the costs of post-secondary education. Based on the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Sonic Boom of the South
The JSU Band otherwise know as the “Sonic Boom of the South” is world renown and carries a steep tradition through music. Most notably, the Sonic Boom performed with Usher at Super Bowl 58.
