Mississippi State University

Mississippi State University (MSU) is a comprehensive doctoral degree-granting institution with a nationally and internationally diverse student body. To individuals, it offers a wide range of opportunities and challenges for learning and growth; to the world of knowledge, vigorous and expanding opportunities for research, discovery and application; and to the people in every region of Mississippi, a variety of expert services.

Cost of Attendance

Tuition and additional fee costs vary depending on full time or part time enrollment status. Also, being an out of state student (non-resident) can result in additional fees. Mississippi State also provides a Net Price Calculator that assists students in determining the full cost of enrollment.

Part time (in state)

Being a part time, in-state student results in a tuition cost of $442.

PART TIME (non-resident)

Being a part time, non-resident student results in a tuition cost of $1,197.50.

Full time (In state)

Being a full time, in-state student results in a tuition cost of $5,302.

Full time (Non-Resident)

Being a full time, non-resident student results in a tuition cost of $14,368.

Acceptance Requirements

MSU has a rolling admission policy. Admission to Mississippi State University will be granted to high school graduates who completed the required College Prep Curriculum (CPC) along with one of the following:

A minimum 2.0 grade point average on the CPC

Satisfy the National College Athletic Association standards for student-athletes who are full or partial qualifiers under Division 1 guidelines.

Financial Aid

Mississippi State has several options for students who are aspiring to become MSU Bulldogs.

Completing the FAFSA will enable students to become eligible for federal aid. Federal aid can come in the form of Pell and other grants or a loan. Grant and loan information is available on the FAFSA website as well as MSU’s website. Click the heading to learn more. 

Completing the Mississippi Aid Application can enable students to become eligible for state level programs such as: Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant (MTAG), Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant (MESG), and William Winter Teacher Scholar Program. Center for Student Activities

The Center for Student Activities is one of the main hubs for getting involved on campus. With offices in the Colvard Student Union, the Center for Student Activities houses the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, the Student Association, Music Maker Productions, and all official Student Organizations.

New Maroon Camp

New Maroon Camp is a five-day, four-night student-led retreat that prepares first-year students for the transition to Mississippi State University. Learn all of MSU’s great history and traditions while making new friends! New Maroon Camp 2024 will take place August 11-15.

Spirit Groups

MSU Esports

MSU Esports houses 20+ competitive rosters over 17 different esports titles where we compete nationally in leagues under Tespa, CRL, CSL, and AVGL. We have over 5 teams who have placed nationally. Games include: Madden, CS Go, Overwatch 2, Marvel Rivals, and many more.

Sports Clubs and Outdoor Rec

MSU offers numerous Intramural Leagues in sports ranging from softball and basketball to racquetball and ultimate frisbee. There are also dozens of sports clubs, including rugby, fencing, bass fishing, cricket, and ballroom dancing.
